Porcelain and cleaning
Why Is the Blue Porcelain Chipping in My Wolf Oven?
The short answer
If the inside of yours is speckled blue porcelain, that surface is glass fused onto steel, and glass gives way where something struck it or where the steel behind it moved. Chips at the rack rails and around the opening are impact. Wolf Appliance Repair Denver will say whether yours matters: (720) 807-8323.
Why it does that
Enamel is not paint and it does not wear thin. Ground glass is fired onto sheet steel until the two are one surface, which is why it outlives coatings a cleaning cycle would strip, and why it fails suddenly rather than gradually. Steel expands as the cavity heats and the glass on it has far less give. Add a loaded tray swung in against a rail, a dish set down hard on the open door, a cast pan dragged over the cavity floor, and the first places to let go are the edges, the corners and the rails.
Whether a chip matters
Looks are not the test; rust is. Where the glass has gone the steel under it is bare, and bare metal in a box that goes through wet heat has somewhere to start. A chip showing clean bright steel gets photographed and watched. A chip gone brown at its edge has already begun, and the conversation moves from the finish to the panel carrying it.

Ranges, not starting prices — what moves inside one is the part and how far the oven has to come out of its column. The $89 diagnosis comes off the figure once you approve it.
